17-18 Year Old Arabian Gelding

I've had him for almost a year now and I have been working hard on him. He was given to us for free, and he has to be the most perfect horse. His only downfall is his age, I would of loved to have this boy when he was younger. He is willing to do anything for me. Here are a few pictures. He hasn't been able to be ridden or excersized much throughout the winter. Please disregard the dirt & shaggy hair. He's near impossible to keep clean.

He's a great looking guy. Lucky you!! I have one just like him. Your guy looks alot older than 17-18. Mine's 25 and looks younger than yours. Are you sure about his age??

Aren't these old arab gelding the best?? I love mine to death!! He's been my best friend since I was 12 and now I'm 21. He's never let me down. He's been a great listener, friend and a noble steed.

When you count your blessing make sure you count your horse.

my mare is 1/2 arab and 1/2 appy..shes 17 this yr sometime....i love her to death! she has alot of energy

ok 17-18 years old is not old and is not his downfall at all! these arabs can live and be ridden till 30 and older. he's a spring chicken!!!
here is my 30year old arab that is going into ponyclub agian for the millionth time!

This is from this winter.

Im going to have to disagree with Shadow. If you didnt mention his age I would have guessed 18-20. He's got a little buddha belly!

He reminds me of the 20yr Arab gelding boarded here! Though... nicer.

The one thing that really stood out to me, though I didnt take the time to do a critique is that he is very cowhocked. Which isnt really that huge a deal since hes got on perfectly well for 18 years!

I wish you years of success with him!

Good thing about Arabians is...they can take age!!

I never said it was bad thing that he was old, I just said he looked older than my gelding. He just has more of a sway back. I think she'll get tons more years out of him. I mean mine's 25 and anyone who didn't know him would guess 15-17yrs.

Thanks guys =) I didn't mean downfall that way. I just meant that I wish I would of gotten him at a younger age. Yes, he is 17-18 im positive...and he looks worse then usual because these pictures were taken at the end of winter when he was shaggy and he didn't get as much excersize because we had another horse come into the barn...who is now gone. He was nothing but trouble =)
