Question 1/2 TB registry??

Just curious, is there a registry for 1/2 TBs? I bred my mare (who is 1/2 TB herself and registered as a Canadian Sport Horse) to a TB stallion, and I'm wondering about registering the foal. She's not due until April 29th, so there's still lots of time. I'm just wondering what anyone knows about this?? I can register the foal as a Cdn Sport Horse as well, but are there any other registries I should look into?

I'm planning on keeping this foal to train, and hopefully Event with eventually.... So there's no selling issue. What can you guys tell me?

There may be other sport horse registries that she could be elidgible for IF you can prove her pedigree.

I wouldn't spend the money on a double registered foal. There really is no value to it and is often costly UNLESS you want to compete for points under that registry....but in Eventing, pedigree and registration are usually not required.

The other problem is, I don't know the details of my mare's pedigree on her dam's side. I don't even know exactly what breed her dam is, only that she's registered as a Canadian Sport Horse as well. My mare's sire is Franc Coeur, standing at Filly Lane Farm. He has Northern Dancer and War Admiral in his bloodlines.

Thanks for the info!

There is no 1/2 TB registry, they are either 100% TB, or not... but the horse could be registered as something else possibly... you would have to check the rules our for the Canadian Sport Horse...

Performance Horse Registry was originally created for 1/2 TBs or un-JC-registered full TBs. They have since expanded to allow a greater % of non-TB blood. I don't recall if there's a limit to how little TB blood there is or not.

I was going to suggest the Performance Horse Registry too, which was started for 1/2 TB's. I'm planning on registering my TB/Mustang cross with them when I get the money (which may be never, but hey, I can still plan!)

I was going with the JC regulations...LOL...A performance registry could be anything mixed with a TB...would you need to know what the other half was?

For the PHR, I don't think you need to know what the non-TB part(s) is, only proof of X% of TB blood.
