I have eye gunk (not sure what it's called lol) like a kitty. That crusty/runny gunk in the corners of their eyes. Ids that bad or does it just have something to do with me being sick since Wendsday night? It's only in my right eye and it makes my eye all cloudy and I can hardly see out of it. Just wondering...

XOXO, Ren

You may have conjuntivitis (pink eye). Don't touch your eye, or anything that is coming out of it. Pink eye is EXTREMELY contagious - between humans and other animal species. Especially HORSES. Go to your Dr. right away to get it checked out. If you do in fact have pink eye, stay clear of any horses until it clears up.

...you actually get to a point where flies don't bother you so much.

Could be pink eye, or I know sometimes when kids have a bad cold, they will have leakage coming out of the eye. Does your eye itch or burn? I would get it checked out anyway to be on the safe side, especially since you said it is cloudy. wash your hands frequently, and keep them out of your eyes, it could spread to others, and even your other eye.

It's a little itchy, it feels like there's an eye lash in it. And it's too late to stay away from horses. I had lessons this morning, but that was before it started bothering me. My other eye has the same gunky stuff in it but not near as bad and it's not cloudy.

Def. sounds like Pink Eye. It is easy to treat, but you need to get on it right away. It's ok if you were in contact with horses before the eye started to weep or get gunky. It's the puss and fluid that has the bacteria - sorry if I gross out anyone!

Do not touch your eye or the surrounding area. Wash your hands frequently. Do not pick the crusty bits, if you eye is stuck shut - use a papertowel dampened with warm water and hold it over your eye. Don't try to force it open. It may be rather uncomfortable for a few days, but it will heal quickly if you get treatment right away. No school for you if you have pink eye. Like I said, it is extremely contagious. Oh, be sure to wash your pillow case and put a new clean one on every night until this totally clears up. You don't want BOTH eyes infected. And now that the eye is leaking, cancell riding lessons until it's healed up. Pink eye in horses is more serious than in humans and can easily lead to blindness.

OK thank you. My lessons are only on weekends, so it should be cleared up by then right? I can't miss any more school. I've missed a lot of days because I have a cyst on my thyroid and had to keep going to the doctor's office for it. If I miss anymore days I ahve to have a doctor's note stating where I was at and why. I just missed last Thursday and Friday due to a really bad illness I had. Sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, fever, and headaches. That's just now starting to go away. Although last night I woke up at about midnight and my left ear was killing me! We put the heating pad on it nad that seemed to help, becase it's not near as sore anymore. My mom said if it's not ocmpletely better by tonight she's going to get me a doctor appointment for tomorrow (our doctor is closed on Sundays). So, we can have them look at my eye then. Thanks!

XOXO, Ren [Red Horse]

They're getting really sore now. Almost like they're swollen or bruised. I'll ask my mom about htem when I get home. They have a grainy feeling to htem.

It doesn't matter how much school you have missed. You just cannot be at school with pink eye girl! Your doctor will give you a note. It may be cleared up in a week, as long as you get meds for it right away!

Well, my mom said she thinks it's pink eye, but my dad and step-dad said they think it might be that I'm developing allergies from the horses. My mom kept me home from school today becasue I couldn't open my eyes when I woke up this morning, and my dad will be taking me to the doctor after his meeting in a few hours. I've also developed an ear infection. It hurts so bad, so we're going to have them look at that also. Hopefully I'll be better by this weekend so I can go to my lessons then go check out this other barn we're looking into. Does anyone know if it is pink could it spread to my cats? Should I stay away from them for a few days?

if you couldn't open your eyes, it sounds like PINK EYE, had it and hated it! My mom used to have to put warm wet wash rags on my eyes to loosen the gunk up, just so I could see... then she'd through the was rags in bleach and then wash them, and have to do the wash rag thing again in 2 hours! I had it really really bad, and on top of that I had Cat Scratch Fever, so between te 2 of them my body was really worn out~

Well, I just got back from the doctor. They said I have pink eye in BOTH my eyes and ear infections in BOTH my ears. They gave me a note for the school saying I'm not aloud to go back to school until Wendsday. I've got prescription meds for both of these problems. And they said to take Tylenol for my cold. Does anyone know how serious it is if a cat gets pink eye? Becasue when I got home last night I was talking to my mom, laying in her bed next to her and one of my cats started rubbing on my face. I pushed her away, but it still happened. Thanks.

XOXO, Ren [Red Horse]
