Okay we own a pair of breeding budgies, and though i've worked with birds before, these guys seem to be one of a kind.
My first question is this: IS it normal for the male to regurgitate (sp?) his food and feed it to the female? (Exactly what you see parent birds doing for youngsters)
Secondly.. they are BREEDING birds.. been coupled since they were just tiny, however the female hasn't even laid an UNFERTILE egg.. does anyone breed that could give us some advice?
And lastly.. the female has got what looks like po.op on her head.. it was so bad that I had to catch her, cut her head feathers off (because it would NOT wash off) and pick at her nose because the holes were plugged tot he point of suffocation.. Where did she get this from?! The male is perfectly fine..
Thank so much. If anyone can help with the breeding part i'd appreciate if you could send me a pm.

bella-
Sometimes budgies will sometimes look like they are french kissing, that is the best term I can use, yes it is perfectly normal for your male to feed your female. As for the breeding questions, I am not sure, I used to own quite a few parakeets but never bred:-)

Yes, they look like they are 'french kissing' a lot, however what I'm describing is different. He will bob his head up and down while bringing the food up, and then she will be given it straight from his mouth.. I know that there is an exchange going on because yesterday she wasn't fast enough and liquid fell between them from his mouth. Thanks very much.

Wow. he's a dedicated mate!! You have en Excellent pair of breeders. Don't EVER separate those two. If he's feeding her, he's head over heels for her!!!
As for the poop, he could have been above her and oopsed.
Make sure it isn't any other disease. If you are sure it is poop, then just clean her up. I'm suprised she didn't clean herself up.

BW: Thanks As for -whatever- it was on her head, she couldn't clean it because it was soooo stuck. It smelled bad like poop, but she got it overnight and there was way too much. I've reluctantly removed all mineral and cuttle bone blocks, as well as anything else that she can rub on, and so far all is well. So I think it was just from rubbing on food stuffs.
As for the breeding part of it.. do you know much about it? We're just flustered on why she hasn't layed even one egg in the (almost) 2 years that we've had them.. Thanks for the help
