My nextdoor neighbor just knocked on my door to tell me she had someone break into her home this morning WHILE she was in bed. I just cannot believe that would happen in our neighborhood. I'm totally shocked. This poor girl is a teeny slip of a thing, totally traumatized by it all. She had a mop in a bucket behind the kitchen door, when the person broke in, the mop fell over waking her. She didn't think anything of it but took a second to quickly call her girl friend before she got up to make plans for a beach day. Thank God she did that! Otherwise she would have walked right in on the thief!! He must have heard her phone conversation b/c he bolted. The police came and found that this person is a EXPERT. No damage to the door what-so-ever. And she tells me another home 2 doors down was broken into a few days ago. I am totally stunned. I'm also loving my 95lb male Boxer that much more today. He's VERY protective of the property - I'll sleep better knowing he's in the house.

OMG, she's so lucky, all the way around. I'm glad she wasn't hurt, or lose her stuff. Been robbed, it sucks. I'm guessing she doesn't have a deadbolt on the door? Our burglars had to kick it out of the wall, came in on a Great Dane, got bit for their trouble. YES, one breakin is often followed by more locally. Perps seem to get the idea an area is ripe/ ready like fruit. Carve an ID on your valuable stuff, & lock up the jewelry, excess cash and guns. Closets get ransacked, drawers get flipped, pillowcases used to haul. Best hiding places are over head or under knees (rafter/rifles not incl.) Personally, my house is getting a small safe, a modest alarm, and the Posessed Pup roving security system.

Man, that is rough. Thank God she scared them off. *Knock on wood* we have never been robbed in the house, stuff missing out of the shed before. Had our 4-wheeler stolen before. A couple of smash and grab car radio's. I, also, have a big dog who I am thanking every day for keeping our stuff ours! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

What a scary story. I know that my dog helps me sleep at night. Anyone would be nuts to walk in a house with a 70lb pit.

Our house was robbed while we were at work. The same guy hit a neighbors several doors down on the same day. Both of us had BIG dogs at that time. Ours was a Doberman Pinscher house dog and theirs were two, big, mixed breed golden Retrever, German shepard type yard dogs. None stopped this man. He came into the neighbor's back yard, pepper sprayed their dogs kicked and seriously injured one of their dogs and proceeded onto their wooden deck where he broke a window to gain access to their house. He broke a back window and climbed in to our house over the washer and dryer...sometime during the entry he pepper sprayed our Dobe and then once fully inside kicked her in the head so hard she lost a tooth and had cuts on her gum and cheek, as well as swelling for a few days. While I am sure she put up a good fight she had never been treated like that before so am glad she backed down and was not killed! Yes we lost items...I do not call them valuables...my dog and cat that were in the house at that time were my only REAL valuables....and I am only glad that we did not walk in on the man, as we found out later when he was caught the next day he was a crack addict! We never got anything back since he had already sold everything he took the day before. So while big dogs are a deterrent to some burglers...they are not to all...so do take the time and extra effort to make your home as hard to get into as possible! Your beloved pet can lose it's life defending your home and possessions! As for me take my stuff but please leave my pets alone!

OMG Sandra! What a truely horrifying story! Poor dogs! Only doing their job and trying to protect their family and their home. How horrible! Now I'm feeling rather paranoid that something could happen to Mason. I would be DEVESTATED if anything like that happened to my boy. Oh, it breaks my heart - and enrages me at the same time. I just can't believe someone would have the balls to beat up on a dobie like that. Your poor girl. ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

Ack glad the dog was ok after that. I am home 90% of the time. Calamity would only have to hold the person off long enough for me to get the gun. Then law or no law no more bad guy. But thats just me. There would be no stop or ill shoot just BAM.

It really has nothing to do with them trying to steal my stuff. I wont have anyone threaten my family. Something just flips in my head when someone does something that I feel threatens them. One time we were driving along and someone cut me off so I got into the other lane they pulled into that lane so I went into the other lane. I had my kids in the car so I wanted to stay away from someone who seemed drunk. Then after they got in front of me again they slammed on their brakes ( I am almost sure it was someone trying to collect insurance money ) Well when we finally all stopped at a stop light I sat half way out of the car (I was getting their plate info) I guess they thought I was coming to kick their bums because they ran the red light to get away. (I was furious enough to get out and beat the tar out of them but do have a bit of restraint) I went straight to the police station and reported them. We saw them pulled over not even 15 mins later on our way back from burger king ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

when we were building our house we had like a thousand dollors worth f plumbing locked away in our garage.Well we go to the house and the tilers had been there the day before well we get thre and there are no pipes! All of our fixtures were stolen!!! WE had a brand new powerwasher stolen an expensive fishing rod and a nail gun!!! WE think either the tilers left the door open or they pawned it off! It was terrible! I have a basset hound and she couldnt do anything but she is so loud that she scares people off!!!
