Just curious!
I'm Christian (Protestant).
What are all of you?..

I don't go to church anymore. I used to, but I haven't for a long time, maybe like 1 1/2 - 2 years.
I fell asleep a lot at church, though, and when I paid any attention to the sermons, I don't remember anything. I'd much rather read my Bible on my couch and listen to the radio station my family listens to. I love listening to hymns, stuff like that, stuff that a lot of people find boring.

My family is Christian. But we too do not attend church anymore. Between falling asleep, and just not happy overall with the services, we do our own thing now at home with our children.

I'm not a part of any kind of organized religion because I do not believe in them, but I do walk a spiritual path, trying to help myself and others for the greater good. I try to be a more conscious being by understanding what motivates me. I went to baptist, methodist, lutheran, and catholic schools/churches and I don't practice any of them. wow!i'm not the only one.
my dad was never comfortable in any church he's ever been to.
Before I was born, they went to a Lutheran Church, and then from 1989 - 1995 we attended a baptist church...(well, i was born in 1990). And from the Spring of 1995 - 2000 something.....1 or 2?l.. i think 1.. we went to a Reformed Presbyterian Church, and now we just don't go to church anymore, 'cause, yeah..

Shoot, technically I'm "roman catholic" but they really did a number on my life. My parents aren't church goers. So when I started going back, OMG there was nothing I could do to please anyone. Why haven't you gone? Why this, why that.....You have to do this, that, and another thing and you STILL are going to **** . So that shot me down to going to church big time.
Hubby is Baptist. But his views are a bit different from the total church. The latest church we "tried" to go to after our move we didn't like.
You are supposed to live a povish life (so I've been taught) and give x amount to the church, they supposively are to live a povish life, and yet they drive in nicer, newer vehicles than my family does...........

This girl in my class is Roman Catholic. She's really nice, but the teachers take her as a kid with an attitude problem.
My aunt went to my other aunt's church. My "other aunt" is Catholic. When Aunt#1 went to her church, they were not pleased with her at all, and forced her out... and yeah.
There's a guy in my class who is a Jehovah's Witness, and they seem to be pretty strict about Holidays, too. He couldn't come to our Remembrance Day Assembly! [ March 12, 2004, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: Elia ]

I am Episopalian, which is a branch off of the Catholic church, much like presbyterian, and methodists. I am a liberal Episcopalian though, I have totally different veiws than the catholics and baptists do. I am the *black sheep* in my father's family because I don't think the way that they do, they are Southern Baptists. Everything that BW said above is very true with tehm, I beleive that God doesn't need my money, that is why he gave me free choice and good health to get a job and support myself. Ok, I am rambling now.. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

I like a lot of Baptist views, but I don't really like the whole baptism by immersion thing. But it's probably because of how John baptized Jesus.
Uhm, and I like a lot of the Reformed Presbyterian views as well, but I don't really like how they teach the corporate church as "the pillar and ground of truth." Because some churches in the Bible were horrible..

ok, This might start some stuff but this is the way my dad looks at it...hes not religious. I believe in God but my dad said..."if God's like people say he is why is he letting young girls get raped and murdered by people...and little boys get molested by the priests(sp)...thats wrong to me"
i do agree with my dad to some extent..but i didnt kno what to say to that. i was really shocked, never expected him to say it.
sorry if that offended any one...it didnt mean to. and there wasnt much of a point to if ...just to show someone else's point of view.

That's alright. He just has an open mind, that's all. It's better for him to do that then to lie to himself about being one of God's children. (in my opinion).
What I would say to that? "This world is a sinful, cursed earth. As Genesis states..." Since Eve ate the fruit, and Adam accepted to eat the fruit, too, they had become spiritually dead, and what resulted in that was that they were dead - and all that other stuff. This world is a sinful place. Does that mean God enjoys it? No.

I am a Southern Baptist. ::Everyone grabs their baseball bats:: But seriously, my pastor kinda said it like this (there is more to it, just can't remember it all, but here is the jist of it). If there weren't any evil in the world, how would God show his love?

I was raised Methodist... thought of switching to Presbytrian(sp?), but found way to many Hypocrites in the Presby churches I attended, decided I would stick to Methodist and Bible Holiness churches....
I don't get to church very often because my parents don't go anymore, but every Thursday (Lord and homework allowing) I go to my youth group... everyone says I've been an inspiration since I got saved a little over a month ago...
I read my bible, I trust God in all things... although I ask him alot of "Why Lord" questions, I guess I'm just hoping for an explanation, I DO NOT doubt him, I just don't understand why some things happen!
