You got to stay in shape, my grandmother started walking 5 miles a day when she was 60. She is 97 today and we don't know where she is.

The outside is preferred because it creates the illusion that the horse is taking a longer stride than if you were posting on the inside one.
Have a friend ride their horse in a nice working trot and post on the outside diagonal, then have them switch and post on the inside.....look at the difference in the way the horse and it's way of going look.... [Wink]
When your in the show ring it is those little details that can add up to make the difference between getting a ribbon or getting the gait.... [Big Grin]

In hunt seat riding, it is traditional to post on the outside. So you rise when the outside shoulder goes forward, and sit when it comes back.

In dressage riding, the rider can choose which diagonal he posts on, and it is not judged. If a dressage judge marks off for 'posting on the wrong diagonal', that is wrong judging. Occasionally a novice judge will do that.
