When i get my horse she will definately be staying out all year round. Not just because it isn't as much hassle but also because it is so much more natural. Here is my little plan for weekdays when she's out:
Routine
6am-8am ~ Ride/see horse 4pm-5.15/5.30pm ~ Ride/see horse
Feeding
Winter feeding plan.
Hay: 3 leafs in morning 3 leafs in evening
Hard feed: small/medium feed consisting of: Mix, chaff and garlic. As well as a piece of fruit/a vegetable.
Hay will be given twice daily whereas hard feed will only be given after a ride.
Field management
Droppings picked out every weekend or every other day depending on how many there are and on the size of the field.
All holes, poisonous plants, etc. will be sorted out ASAP.
What do you think? Sound OK?

sounds ok to me...Dover saddlery has those corner fence feeders if you were to put her on grain and she is alone in a pasture..

Everything sounds good...except...you cant really make a plan for feed until you get the horse and see what it is like. Some horses require more hay and less grain. And others just the opposite. And some dont need any graina nd are just given hay. Id wait until you get her, see what kind os shape she is in...and then make all ajustments for feed. But otherwise it sounds like a pretty good schedule ot be on! Good luck, w/ the horse! Keep us updated! ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
-------------------- Mares: Honey-buckskin(in-foal to a smutty buckskin stallion) BG-palomino/dunalino(foaled a beautiful filly) Dibby-dun(in-foal to a palomino stallion) Star Bucks-buttermilk buckskin(not bred, we may just use her as a riding horse)
Fillies: Lizzy-grulla(will be used as a broodmare in the future, due to an injury as a weanling...we are unsure if she will be riding sound, although she might be, as her injury has healed so well...you can't even tell) Sheba-black(hopefully will be shown in Halter classes starting this year) Blue-blue roan(we aren't too sure what we are going to do with this filly yet....but she is a cutie)
Geldings: Poco-sorrel/overo*Paint*(Awesome riding horse!) Brandy-*FOR SALE*(Nice 2 yr old, going into training soon, price will go up, feel free to ask me about him..if you are interested)
Foals: Tinker Bell- Red dun filly. Nice short neck, long legs, beautiful eyes..absolutely beautiful. Very people friendly.
Other 2 foals are expecting between May and June.
