is anyone looking for a horse to buy, or just bought one?...ive been looking for like 2 year but cant seem to get my parents convinced that i "need" a horse...they always say "you have whiskey"..i love him to death but its not the same as your own horse..even though its sorta like a free lease right now...anyways, i think my parents are gonna let me get a horse from Turtle Rock Rescue for my birthday..this is the one im looking at..

ill try to post a pic of whiskey later..i havent been able to get my scanner to work...do you have any pics of your horse(s)?

I am on horse search [Big Grin] I've been around horses my whole life and eventually my parents have said yes!! They're not buying me the horse though, i have to pay for it and everything else myself [Frown] Or rather, i have to get half of the money and my lovely gran is paying the other half [Wink] I have looked at about 6 or 7 horses so far and have had to say no to the most wonderful horses for various reasons. I think i may have found "the one" though!! I haven't been to see her yet, but when i spoke to her owner on the phone i started to get butterflies and other strange feelings as if it was some kind of warning bell telling me to get this horse!! I can't explain it...

Anyway, the horse i'm talking about is a 4yo welsh section d. She's black and is 14.3hh/15hh. She's covered all her basic training and is now ready to start new things such as jumping and dressage, etc. She's £1500 (which is £500 over my budget!!) but the lady who is selling her told me that she doesn't need the money now and that i can either pay her in installments or she could keep the horse until i have the money.

That horse looks lovely!! (the one from Rock Rescue), do you have any details about him/her??

Hopefully you find the horse for you soon [Big Grin] Let us know how things go and keep us updated!

P.S. I know what you mean about having a horse on loan and it not being the same thing, i was in the exact same position. I was loaning a horse who i really loved but it just wasn't the same as having your own horse!!

What a gorgeous horse! Do you know anything about him/her? I want to buy a horse..but I have to pay for it all myself, including tack, the horse itself, and board. I'm looking to get one in August though.

Whew, I feel lucky...I dont have to pay for anythng w/ my horses! That is until I turn 18....and that isnt very far away! lol! I "own" 2 horses right now...a paint gelding and a dun mare. My family also has horses! Total we have 8 and 2 of them are def. preg. and my mare is the deciding factor if we will be expecting a 3rd foal next year.(Im hoping for a Perlino Stud but any color or sex will be fine! As long as it is healthy!)

That is a very pretty horse! I sure hope you get a horse soon! They are really fun...and relaxing to be around. Keep us updated about his horse.(Can you give us any more info. on the horse?)

--------------------
Mares:
Honey-buckskin(in-foal to a smutty buckskin stallion)
BG-palomino/dunalino(foaled a beautiful filly)
Dibby-dun(in-foal to a palomino stallion)
Star Bucks-buttermilk buckskin(not bred, we may just use her as a riding horse)

Fillies:
Lizzy-grulla(will be used as a broodmare in the future, due to an injury as a weanling...we are unsure if she will be riding sound, although she might be, as her injury has healed so well...you can't even tell)
Sheba-black(hopefully will be shown in Halter classes starting this year)
Blue-blue roan(we aren't too sure what we are going to do with this filly yet....but she is a cutie)

Geldings:
Poco-sorrel/overo*Paint*(Awesome riding horse!)
Brandy-*FOR SALE*(Nice 2 yr old, going into training soon, price will go up, feel free to ask me about him..if you are interested)

Foals:
Tinker Bell- Red dun filly. Nice short neck, long legs, beautiful eyes..absolutely beautiful. Very people friendly.

Other 2 foals are expecting between May and June.

His name is "sevens" He is a 17 yr old TB and stands 17.2 hh. The ad says he is "very rideable" but not much else. I am hoping to o look at him this sun. Also i have emailed the people for more information on him...ill keep you posted.

I'm also gonna tell my parents that i will pay for the adoption fee ($275) and anything else i can afford. The website says that we can keep him there until we have a barn for him to stay at which is good because my parents dont want to pay for board untilt he spring. Again, ill keep you posted on how things go!

**good luck to anyone looking...its not as easy as it seems!

The most important thing when looking at a horse if you havent bought one before is to take an impartial professional with you

glad you are being clever about it. Its so easy to end up with an unsuitable horse because you dont get enough advice. Good luck and i hope this horse works out.
