Here are a bunch of pictures, tell me what you think!!

This is scarlet, a 11 yr old, unraced TB mare. This mare is amazing, this is just us warming up over 18 inches, but we got up to courses about 3'3 that day!

Bomber -- 5 yr old unraced TB gelding. He is the one we are just starting to "break". he was in a field all of his life with no human contact.

Ted -- a 6 yr old, 12hh, shetland pony. This pony was abused, but i got him to love people. I jumped him like 2'3 while i was on his back, i lunged him over like 2'3-2'6!! He was bought by 5 yr old twins, they show him now [Smile] .

Dezi -- this is the horse i leased for 3 months. i love this horse to death, he would do anything for me/i would do anything for him. He is a 9yr old TB/QH gelding with such a big heart.

i dont have any pictures of my horse, sarge right now. but i will get some soon!

Beautiful horses! The little shetland is adorable- I'm starting to look for a pony for my 5 yr old daughter who is really getting into riding - but I get nervous with her on my Arab.

Cute horses, I hope you don't mind me pointing this out butI can't help it after looking at the picture. I think that you need to learn how to do a proper release before you start jumping bigger fences. You are folding your body over your hands, your hands need to be infront of your chin. There are three kinds of releases a short crest release a long crest release and an automatic release. In this picture you are demenstrating none of the above, and a rider should be able to do at least a long crest release before jumping fences that are 3'3".
Also your lower leg has fallen too far back, and you are standing in your stirrups, way too far out of the saddle. Your elbows are cominng out and back behind your body (sprouting wings) which means you are if anything pulling back.
I am a stronger believer in letting a horse jump out of a loop in the rein until you are a strong enough rider to do an automatic release. If I were you I would work on long crest releases for a little while.

I'm going to agree about the release, but then again it's only one picture. And at that the only picture we've ever seen of you jumping. So it possibly might have been a one time thing, but definately something to take to heart.

either its just the angle of the jumping pick but i dont think her legs r too far back. if ya wanna see 'far back' watch this lil grl who rides w/ her sister after my lesson! her foot is all the way to his haunch, and just at a trot.

Yes, the foot could possibly be the angle. Her leg should form a basically vertical line, in the pic it's not, but again probably angle.

I love reasing the George Morris Jumping clinic, and just thought I would give it a try, I hope no one was offended by that...
I feel her leg is slightly too far back, and she is standing in her stirrups, with no weight in her heels (no depth in the heel) she is too far out of the saddle, and her body is too far foward. It looks as though she is coming onfront of the pomel of the saddle.
I feel that you can only learn from your mistakes if they are pointed out to me, i know it can be hard to hear sometimes.

I had a lesson last night and i started working on it!! My trainer said, its not VERY important to have your arms way up far when your just jumping to warm up. But i was jumping arouned 2'6 last night, on Scarlet again and i got it! [Smile] . I'm so proud of myself!

You're right, if you're jumping low, you don't have to have a huge release. I think though that what rubyslipper was trying to say is that your hands are actually behind your center in the top pic. Now, whether you're pulling back or just have your reins too long isn't evident.
