Today i was going out to ride my horse, Dezi. I was suppose to have a lesson, but my trainer called and cancled because she said she had to go up to Harrisburg.

So anyways, my dad was waiting there with me, but he had left to go to the store for a few mins. Dezi usually gallops up to me, so when i went out and called his name, he didnt come, so i knew something was wrong.

I went around the pasture, and right next to his pasture is owned by another person who rasises cows, and the cows werent in there. The fence is wire, which i am not too fond of. Dezi was in that field, and was about ready to jump it, one of his legs was over the barbed wire, and the other three were on the other side. I had to hurry up and i fought for about 10 mins just trying to get him to rear up and lift his leg back over. Finally he did that, after that, i had to walk about 3/4 a mile thorugh mud, half of it was Knee Deep. THEN i had to cross a creek because there was no bridge, and that was ankle deep!

But if he would of gotten caught up more, he could of flipped over and broken his neck or something. I called my trainer immdeality, she was like "your new nickname is Dezis Angel, he loves you soo much and adores you". And she was like "he wouldnt of stood that still for any other person but you.

i was crying, i was just so happy he was ok!!!!! Did anything happen like this to you?

Sometimes I beleive things happen for reason, a guardian Angel looking over their Angel. Your trainer was ment to not turn up and you were there to rescue him. Things like this have happened to me, and when you sit back and think about the what ifs' [Frown] things happen for reasons. I am so glad you sorted him, I bet your heart was nearly popping out your chest. Well done you, that's true love.Glad he is OK, you should feel proud [Cute Kiss]

If you sat and thought about what you would do in that sort of situation you would shudder, but when faced with it something just kicks in and you do what you have to. I always keep a headcoller and lead rope in my car, as a just incase. I used to work for our local council, catching the gypsy horses that had got loose from their tethers(loads round here), so i suppose it's a habit learnd. Are you hurt at all? When Mouse jumped out and got his one hind foot stuck in the fence(hate thinking about it) he was down and hanging by the caught leg, it was fate I went back to the yard, my friend had left her bike and while I was there I just had to check them, had 4 at the time, couldn't see him, when I got to the top of the field, I couldn't beleive my eyes, I lay on him to keep him still while my friend ran to get some wire cutters, when he was free he lay there for about 20 mins, the vet was already on his way, when he came round he rolled over onto me and caught me in the face, my nose was streming with blood, I had bramble scratches all over me, my leg was bleeding from jumping over the fence. When the vet came, he said I don't know who to treat first, I was in a worse state than my little Mouse.

Aww! yes, i am ok front the event. but you were so brave to lay on your pony/horse. i would of done it for dezi, but lucklily he was ok, just a few thorns stuck in his mane/ tail! his belly was FULL of mud, i was warm hosing him off for about 25 mins! i didnt want to get him too cold, so i kept a fleece cooler on him [Smile] .

He is only 11.2hh, so his poor little leg was stretched right apart, it was the most awful thing I have ever been through, still get nightmares about it now. My friends horse got caught by it's rug(blanket), on post and rail fencing, you would think nothing could happen with that type of fencing, anyway he paniced and broke the rails, fell into the hawthorn bushes, and we must have picked out over 50 spikes from his belly, some even went through his rug(blanket)He cut a chunk out of his face, but luckily the skin was still hanging, so the vet was able to stich him up, made a nice job of it, Poor Franky.

sumthing bad, but not as bad as wut happened to ur horses, is that i was workning one saterday at the barn and we had 2 extra paddocks open between Fiona and Billy, so we put this 16 yo TB mare named Rella out by Billy and a 2 1/2 yo Saddlebred gelding named Tomo between Realla and Fi. and they were all doing great next to eachother and Fiona was acting like a babysitter(it was really cute to watch)but theres this one grl at the barn who works at the barn also and shes a head case. she doesnt listen to us and doesnt clean stalls well, and when she says shes done that means there's still half a stall to be cleaned. and shes obssessed w/ Billy. we're bringing horses in and we leave the front paddacks till the end so me and my friend who owns Tomo r coming down w/ 2 ponies and we see that Billy is not in his paddock and Rella, Tomo, and Fi r going crazy in their paddocks. (Fi always needs a gelding out in front w/ her so she stays calm)they were running around hitting the fence and electric wire and kicking down rails. my friend and i ran the ponies into the barn and in their stalls and ran back out to see if we could calm the horses from outside the paddocks. didnt work so we got the barn manager who owns Realla to get her horse while me and my friend dealt w/ our horses. i was in Fi's paddack and had caught her and was walking her in the paddock to calm her down when this other mare Hawna got loose from anoter worker. my friend left her paddock, and i would've but Tomo had kicked sum boards down right in front of the gate so i couldnt get out in time. so i continued w/ Fi when i saw that ppl were helping round up Hawan. Hawna ran to the back of the barn so i started putting boards outa my way. and then i heard conter beats and i thought it was Fi but it was Hawna going towards the road! i slipped outa the paddock and stayed along side it to the entrance of the drive way and put my arms out so Hawna wouldnt just come barging at me. she slowed down and started eating grass in a corner and i was able to catch her after talking and petting her on the shoulder up to her neck. we put her in the paddock again to teach her that her behavior wasnt exceptable because she had readred and bucked away from the other worker. i was able to get Fi out and she hd a few minor scrapes so i didnt worry much about her and i was going to wash them down later when i ounched out. and then i went back to get Hawna w/ a stud chain just in case. and it came in handy. but before i had been able to get to Fiona when i was bringin the ponies in another worker was trying to catch her and she wouldnt stop but kept running away like the person was going to bite her. thats wut i love about horses, u can bond w/ ur own so well, but a downside is if i'm not their and sumthing like that happens then she could get hurt more then if i was there, or hurt the other person. but that was my big event.

Glad to hear your horse is okay.
I had a scare with my sister's horse a while back. It was only me and my mom home, my dad was out of town and my sister was at a friend's house. I went out to the barn to feed the horses. BlackJack is usually the first to the barn, but this morning he wasnt there. I fixed the feed for all of the horses, and went to look for him. I saw him standing across the 2 acre pasture and knew something was wrong. He was standing next to these 2 guidewires that come down from the telephone poles, the really thick cable that you can't cut. The phone company had put them in a week before and were supposed to be back to put a fence around them. Anyway, BlackJack was stanging there with his back leg wrapped around that wire. I could see pale white on one part of his leg, and his hoof was dripping and thick with blood. I talked to him and petted him, but he already was a calm horse. He knows that when he gets tangled to stand still til someone is there. I ran to get my mom. She called the vet and told him to be ready. It was 6:00am on a Sunday morning, and we live about 45 min away from the vet. We ran outside and got a leadrope to put around his hoof. We tugged as light as we could to unwrap his leg from the wire, because it was wrapped around it a couple of times, and if he moved, the wire sawed into his leg. We got it undone, and he stood there on 3 legs. We backed the horse trailer up to him, and we helped him in. We didn't tie him, and we closed the gate to help him stand up. We got to the vet, and they put him in the stocks to hold him up. They gave him a tranqulizer, because they neede him to stand up to sew everything back up. I just held his head in my hands the whole time. The poor thing had to have been in pain. The vet said it was cut to the bone in 2 places, and missed the main artery in his leg by barely an inch. He had to stitch it all up (which took 4 hours) and he left a drain in it. He said if he didn't know us so well, and know how well we take care of our horses, he would have put him to sleep. We didn't ride him for 4 months. He had to stay in the stall, and we changed his bandages 3 times a day. After 6 months, he didn't have a limp, and you could barely see the small scar. He was so good, where a lot of horses would have panicked and really hurt themselves, or worse, before we got to the vet.

Now I have an interesting story to tell you, we used to keep our horses in a pasture by some cows, and one day the cows barrdged through a fence and took down our fence also, the pasture was by a highway, amoung our horses were a welch x, 4tb, and one 31 year old retired cutting horse, all the horses started running into the street, we grabbed horses in the stable to round up the others, but by the time we had gotten to the scene jiggs, our cutting horse, had already rounded the youngsters up, and had them heading towards the barn, he got extra grain that night, and a massage that lasted 2 hours!
