Ft. Dodge has been found negligent in their processes.

What is intresting about the deviations that Ft Dodge was accused of is that their agreement to correct the deviations may not really happen. I had a freind who told me that Ft Dodge has been getting a lot of questions about their vaccines, but I use them and have never had any problems or sick horses. Has anyone had any problems with thier vaccines or suspect problems with their vaccines? Nice posting, thanks for the insight.

The letter i saw before that started the whole thing, is, as far as i can tell, the result of their usual inspection, and the problems they had during the inspection were not related to any problems with their products. in other words they need to dot their i's and cross their t's a little more carefully, and i'm not sure but that every company always has some violations of the type described.

i've never had any problems with any fort dodge product.

I have never had a personal prob with FT Dodge, but know a couple people who have gotten bad vaccines from them. One came directly from the vet's office.
Interesting reading sandra, as always:) Makes one go hmmmm? [Wink]

I've only had one batch of bad vaccines. They came looking a little funny, lighter than usual (color wise) they were returned and switched out immediately with no problems. This was several years ago.

My horse was vaccinated with Ft. Dodge rabies a while ago. She had a really bad reaction to it. She was super hyper sensitive, and afraid of everyone and everything. This not only affected her in that week, but it set our training back dramatically, and i have to fix some mental probs that came about from it now. I never want to go through that again. She can't be tied now because of an incedent on the cross ties while she still had the vaccine in her. She also lost the trust we had between us. So basically i'm POed because of that shot, and now i'm finding out that she could have been injected with an unsterile shot. Jeez. [Roll Eyes] [Mad]

We assume it was the vax because the behavior started the day aftert the vax, and she wasn't back to "normal" untill about 10 days later. My old trainer told me that her horse that reacts to shots usually stays "ill" for about 10 days after. So, unless there's some other way to prove the assumption wrong, thats the conclusion we drew.

That is very interesting. The first time I heard the name Fort Dodge was on a sight about WNV. I saw many ppl talking about the impact that vaccine had on their breeding programs. Though some say that it was a hoax I really do not know. Though the ppl that had the problems with the vaccine posted complaints last year. It does seem that the vaccine has been tweeked enough to not be causing problems now.

I have read multiple pages about Ft Dodge WNV and haven't been able to find any reason to believe that any of their vaccines are unsafe, unles specifically stated so on the vaccine. I sometimes think-and this is not to claim this happened to you horsebrat, that we justify and make accurasations without really always being sure that there is factual evidence to back it up. I myself have never had a problem with any vaccine and maybe that is why. I have heard stories though. I sometimes hear of stories where it isn't the vaccine, but rather a condition that was triggered by the vaccine. There is sometiems a prexisting condition that science hasn't detected yet. I don't know that it is Ft Dodges fault, as it is the ways of science. It happens in human medicine all the time. I heard too that all inspections are required to submit their report for public access. This is probley how Sandra came across this one. I agree that there is usually some sort of inspection penalty to ensure that the company is dotting all thier I's and crossing all thier T's-as slc put it [Woot!] I am getting a rabies vaccine Tuesday, it will consciously be in the back of my mind what happened to you horsebrat.
