Hi New here. I just got a miniature horse stallion a couple of weeks ago and had him gelded last Friday. The area's looking good and not anymore swollen then the vet said it would get. I'm curious as to how long it will probably be tender to the touch. Not that I'm messing with the area but just need to know in general. Thanks! Cara

I would give it around 2 - 3 weeks for the area to heal properly but I'd also keep an eye on it for any possible signs of infection. It sounds like you're doing the right thing

2 - 3 weeks is average, some may take a little longer but i've never known one to heal completely before 2 weeks is up.

Hi, Thanks for the tips! My mini is a gray and white tobiano-very cute. I wasn't planning on getting one. I went to pick up an Arabian gelding and the owner-I do a website for her-kind of talked me into him too. Along with two bunnies! My husband says we're not going down there with a horse trailer again LOL! Really though I'm impressed with his good nature and his boldness. Nothing seems to bother him. We loaded him in the minivan to take to the vet and he did just great! I can see why these little horses are being trained as guide horses for the blind. Cara
