The hair will grow back. He will have a little scar there from now on but the hair will come back. It should have baby fuzz in time for you show so it will be somewhat covered.

http://www.calmcoat.com Good stuff, will aid in healing and hair growth. I have used it in these instances and hair grows back in a few weeks. It will also keep the bugs off of it. I highly reccommend this stuff ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

I would be more concerened with more serious problems such as internal damage, spinal injury, head injury, muscle soreness, etc. instead of hair growing back.

umm...yeah. that would be the smartest thing to do, right now. let us know how he is...
however, once you have your horse checked out, etc, and you start working on the hair growing back: i know i say this alot but aloe vera gel ALWAYS works for me with hair regrowth.

HOnestly, I have yet to find anything that creates "faster" hair growth. Sometimes it seems like it because we are doing something, but it will grow back when it grows back.
What will you be showing in? If performance, don't worry about it. judges rarely ever seen stuff like that. They only give your hrose a few seconds before moving to the next one. Don't have time to contemplate whether it is scarred or injury.
As long as she/he isn't lame, you should be ok.

The vet came a at 12am the day i posted. He checked him out and said the only thing he has wrong beside the floor burn is a soar hock. He is in stall rest for 2 wks just to be safe. I am showing in western pleasure, showmanship (english and western)
But for fun i also do reining and contesting but we are not serios in it. It just switches thins up and he likes to run so thats how i reward him. The whole injury happened yesterday morning. the vet says he will be fine. I feel very fortunate he could come out soo quick. (BUt he is my uncle)Thanks!
O and today at tractor supply i picked up a cream with aloe vera in it. It also cleans the place, repels flys and has added vitamins A, E, and D. also it has wheat germ oil in it.

Also how do i reintroduce him back to his riding. Before this i rode him 3 times a week for and hr to 1.5 hrs (walking, jogging, loping)
I was thinking if like in a week if he kept getting less sore i would saddle him up and just walk like a mile and work up.... how would u do it i am not the expert\ Thanks!

If the vet said 2 wks rest, then 2 WEEKS REST!!
Then bring him out, first day, light work out. Light walk, some trotting to see if he's lame. Maybe, if he's ok, a light canter LARGE circles, no slides or anything.
Next day, work longer, if didn't go lame.
by day 3, you should be able to get him back to his normal work-out as long as the first 2 days, he was ok.
Ask the vet when he can be turned out. If he can be turned out the last week, it will help transition him back into a work-out regimine faster.

My uncle (vet) stopped out again tonight and said he is still healing very nicely and the swelling is goin down alot. He says we will play it safe though and still wait the remainder of two weeks in the stall EXCEPT with my supervision he can be out in his little corral type thing (half an acre) for half an hour starting to tommorrow cus he feels a little walking will do him good excpet if it is slippery. Im sooo hapy hes getting better.

To promote hair growth....rub some of Rio Vista's Hoof Manicure into the skin around the area of the bald patch.

i whould really be worried about my horse health also. did you know it can make a horse lame becasue of those easy to get rope burns? its highly common pepole think there horse is trained to ground tie so the leave there lead ropes dangeling while the horse grazes and it somehow gets wrapped around a leg and gets a rope burn.

I know it is very important to watch his health! The vet has been out three times since the accident. I am having my first lesson on him again since the accident next friday. He is doing great and i know he is still not out of the clear and thats why i am still watching him and just walking him. Thats just what the vet told me to do. I am sorry if i didnt clarify that but heck yes i love him to death and care soo much about his health!
