LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

I personally wouldn't want to breed my mare with out a contract from the stallion owner. I wonder howmuch they charge to collect semen?? $500???

It's $225 per shipment, it's listed on the 2nd page. So it's not really a free breeding is it? [Roll Eyes]

This was discused on COTH. The stallion suffered an injury and could not complete his performance testing for Trak licensing.

This is legitimate and there have been quite a few breeders (mostly from COTH) that have taken advantage of the offer.

This is a very well bred horse and the only charge I believe is the collection and shipping. The stud fee for this level of horse would be about $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 so it is virtually free.

You're kinda reading the ad wrong, we do a free breeding contest every year and people always think EVERYTHING is free. When an ad says "free stud fee" or "free breeding" that's ALL that is free, the actual amount you pay to breed. Vet fees, mare care, shipping costs, etc all still have to be paid. [Smile]

I know what you mean. I won the breeding for Sugar at silent auction for only $225. It still cost me $800 last year and this year it will be more as she has a foal o her side. (mare care is higher) Still an incredible discount!!

the ONLY thing that is free is the stud fee, you still pay for collection of the stud, shipping of the semen, insemination of the mare, preg checking the mare, etc. so NOT FREE! Plus there's no live foal guarantee, so if you don't get your mare in foal you pay all over again.

Yeah. There are still a LOT of costs. Collection is pretty decenly priced, shipping, not bad, then you have all your mare costs. Inseminiation, hormones,

And if it doesn't take, gotta pay for it all again.

NOt too bad though. Unfortunately, no Live Foal guarantee. But again, still not bad for the price.

There just isn't a "fee for the stud owner". Which I bet they have a deal with the collection or they do their own collection so either way they are making money.

Ask how much the cost of registering the foal will be? Or can the foal even be registered?? SInce someone said he didn't even complete his liscense paperwork due to an injury?

I think that if your mare is not registered, it might not be a good idea to breed her. It is hard to sell a foal without papers, and sometimes, you can't keep them forever. You might just go buy a foal if you realy want one. They have nice PMU foals at Turtle Rock rescue here in NH. I know you got Honey from Live and let Live, so you might be interested in the PMU foals at Turtle Rock.

point is, the little swimmers are pretty much "FREE". [Roll Eyes] we weren't talking about mare care, etc, just the little dudes.
