Blackie's nipple things look like they have salt around them? Am I seeing things?

Nope. My mare often has white crystal-like specs on her teats when preg. Is your mare near term?
My mare gets them a while before she waxes.

Shes not due til the 28th but Sharon says she could foal in 9 days

Yep, I would not worry about it. My mare always gets that on her teats. It seems to be a bit of a prelude to waxing, but happens a while before "the event". She could easily go another two weeks.
