What age does everyone think is acceptable for a mare to start being bred?

I always waited until they were at least 5 to make sure they had done most of their own maturing.

Well, it can depend on the mare, but we are breeding a mare next year(she will be 3) so when she foals, she'll be 4. She had an injury as a weanling/yearling, so we are unsure if she is able to be ridden, so we will use her as a broodmare, as she has the conformation, great disposition, beautiful color, nice pedigree, AQHA/FQHA registered, and she is being bred to a WONDERFUL stallion!(Who I believe is 99.(something)% foundation) so the foal will be high foundation, and be beautiful! And I am guesing that some people that read what I have just said will disagree with us breeding 'so young', but I have stated my reasons of what type of foal she will have. We breed AQHA/FQHA registered horses, and we would never do anything to hurt any of our horses.

Yeah I guess it also depends on how fast your horse matures.........

I know TB's mature a lot faster and can be breed younger - but I wouldn't breed a WB before the age of 5.
