About I dunno.. 2 days ago I think, I noticed that Goldie & Blackie's top butt muscles are kinda like jello when you touch them.. I just wanna know how long do mares have "jiggly butts" before they foal?

But is that after the whole butt is jiggly or just the top muscles?

my mare's getting a jiggly but too!! Cept, we dont think shes in foal, we'll find out monday!
Is your mares but really jello like or is it just starting to soften up. I read that when its REALLY soft and jelly like then anytime, but if its JUST softening a little you have a couple weeks(probably 2-2 1/2)

I wont believe any vets here about dates.. When Goldie had her first baby, the vet came out and said "Oh she's got another month to go". That same night, she foaled. ...and we started school August 6th

Hey, I just posted my notes on labor under Labor Signs. Check them out.
I think you have about 14 days if she's is just starting to jelly up.
But watch for the other signs.

All the vets here are kinda nutty.. We had one perfect vet. Everything thing he did was correct. He knew if a horse was pregnant just by looking her weeks after she was bred and he as always right. He knew just about everything..

I wish I could.. He was killed August 5th in a horrible accident at 4AM on the interstate on his way to take his daughter and her horses to a barrel racing competition in FortWorth Texas .. What blows my mind is, the daughter, the horses, and the dog were all fine, yet he died...

It's ok.. We joke about him at our stable sometimes.. when there's a problem with a horse we say "I guess we'll have to bring Mike back from the dead to fix this horse"
