My Arab filly, Blue Angel Dreams was supposed to be full Egyptian when I bought her. I now know that she isn't but was wondering how I find out what she is exactly. Does anyone know of some good sites out there that might have some good info? One person told me her sire would be Al Khamsa, but I did a horse verification at Pyramid, and the lady said she couldn't find anything, but the grandsire was Al Khamsa. I just wanna get this straightened out for myself before I start lying to people.

Most Arabians in america are a mix of the various bloodlines from Europe and Egypt, The Polish being most prominent. Straight Egyptian although not exactly rare, do tend to be harder to actually find. To be straight Egyptian the bloodlines must all trace back to horses bred in North Africa and the Middle East.
I have a friend who has imported mares and stallions directly from Egypt, of course the offspring of these horses would be as straight an Egyptian as you could get in this country. So there are people who can claim the lineage. You just gotta look hard at the papers.
You can go to the Arabian Horse Assn. for more precise answers to your questions.

I know about DataSource, I have an old copy someone gave me. I think its either 99 or 2000. Anyway I still don't know how to tell what kind of Arab my sweetie is. All I know is someone who searched them for me said she had some old Egyptian lines, don't really know what that means or which horses she was referring to.

HorseCrazy1981 do you have your horse's pedigree nearby? If so post the names and maybe some of us might know a few of the horses.
Also if you are using AOL as you ISP you can ask your question on the Arabian Discussion Group there and someone should be able to provide you an answer.
There are also several other Arabian sites you can ask on too...just do a Google Search for them.

I have been to the pyramid society. Interesting website. Took me forever to get through most of the names in my horses pedigree. Not enough pictures or descriptions.

Some of the horses way back in her pedigree are Witez II, Fadl, and (is it Nazeer or Naseem, ugh.. can't think straight, too many Egyptian names spelled alike) Moniet El Nafous (I think), can anyone tell me about them? Maybe I can find the other names later...

Hmm... maybe I am turning into a blonde, lol.

*Witez II is POLISH:

*Witez II was in the 1945 Army importation from Germany, but had been bred in Poland. He was foaled in 1938, the same year as Witraz and Wielki Szlem, all by the same sire, Ofir, and bred at Janow-Podlaski State Stud. He was the most popular of the Remount sires, especially after his sale to E.E. Hurlbutt. He was twice Champion of the Southern California Arabian Show, and won the Pacific Coast Championship in 1953 with his son Zitez, Reserve. *Witez II lived until 1965, when he died quietly in his pasture. During his US stud career he produced 215 foals, 30 of which became champions.
*Witez II descendents today number in the thousands. His story has been remembered in two books, and his image has even been reproduced on a Polish postage stamp. If it can be said that the Arabians of Poland pioneered the resurrection of their breed, then it can surely also be said that Witez II pioneered the Polish Arabian's legacy in America.

Here is a photo taken of him in 1965 a few months before he died by Marcia Eddy...*Witez II is in his winter coat in this photo:

There is a *Witez II preservation society. I have a black double *Witez II great granddaughter. She is also *Bask bred, who is also Polish. My mare has Egyptian blood also. So, it looks like your mare is a mix of Polish and Egyptian, like mine. Beauty and brains!!
The other horses you mentioned are Egyptian.
The previous owners should have told you she was not straight Egyptian though.

Ok so I looked at the pyramid society again. The horses that they have in their database that are also in her pedigree are Char Sirgem, Fa-Rousse, and Prince Ebony. The horses I couldn't find were Fadya, Mi Serr, Rodah, Golden Star, Kaylene, Ibn Shahrah, Mona, Aalran, Malak, Gesakkla, and Yunya Sitt. These are just the horses that are on her papers 4 & 5 generations back. Just throwing these names out there, maybe someone has heard of them.

Sorry, I have not heard of Fadya, Mi Serr, Rodah, Golden Star, Kaylene, Ibn Shahrah, Mona, Aalran, Malak, Gesakkla, and Yunya Sitt.
Your best bet is to post the list on one of the Arabian Forums because if anyone on one has a registry cd they can look the names up for you.
