I gelded my colt today. I'm not sure if I made the right decision or not, but I can't change it now. Just thought I'd let everyone know since I posted a forum on this before.

It is a good decision. You'll realize it after you find out you can do TONS more with him than if he was a stallion. Like open shows, trail rides, etc. Most of those don't like stallions around.

Oh, Im sure he'll make a great gelding, and just to give you aheads up...he might ct up as a 2-3yr old....if he does....dont worry thats perfectly normal! But yes...Im sure you will have good luck with this horse being a gelding!
-------------------- Mares: Honey-buckskin(in-foal to a smutty buckskin stallion) BG-palomino/dunalino(foaled a beautiful filly) Dibby-dun(in-foal to a palomino stallion) Star Bucks-buttermilk buckskin(not bred, we may just use her as a riding horse)
Fillies: Lizzy-grulla(will be used as a broodmare in the future, due to an injury as a weanling...we are unsure if she will be riding sound, although she might be, as her injury has healed so well...you can't even tell) Sheba-black(hopefully will be shown in Halter classes starting this year) Blue-blue roan(we aren't too sure what we are going to do with this filly yet....but she is a cutie)
Geldings: Poco-sorrel/overo*Paint*(Awesome riding horse!) Brandy-*FOR SALE*(Nice 2 yr old, going into training soon, price will go up, feel free to ask me about him..if you are interested)
Foals: Tinker Bell- Red dun filly. Nice short neck, long legs, beautiful eyes..absolutely beautiful. Very people friendly.
Other 2 foals are expecting between May and June.

you will see a difference in a couple of weeks. it will definitly be good for you. my 3yr old was gelded last winter. he gained weight and mass. he also became a lot easier to handle and train. if you don't plan on breeding, you should definitly geld.

You will quickly see that you did not make a mistake! It takes good stallion to make a GREAT gelding and you will soon discover what a great gelding you now have! Sometime in the future, when you are ready, and you have a colt that is truly stallion material you will know it and will not have any doubts or questions! Until that times comes you will have a ball enjoying this gelding! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
