I've been putting a couple squirts of veg oil via pump top in Raps feed at night... I'm not sure if it's doing me more good mentally than its doing him physically, now that the weather is warming up. But it might still do x- amount of good keeping him form colicking? Dunno, and not real ready to test that theory!

Yes I have been using vegetable oil in my horse's feed so that it all sticks together, otherwise she blows alot of it away with her nose haha!
Her coat looks alot shinier!

I usually feed vegetable oil at this time of year as it gets very dry and my horses coats tend to lose a bit of lustre.
I put about 1/4 cup in each feed. Its great for conditioning their coat and is good for putting on weight without heating up the horse [Smile]

i feed it all the time! it helps especially this time, and winter! it helps joints..and is alot easier on their systems than a glucose supplement! it keeps their joints lubricated...it works like wonders! my mare (she is a tb...16.3) gets about 1/2 cup a day in her feed! it also keeps her coat shiny and soft! i use it faithfully!...and it is easy on stomachs, and is natural!

Carly, where did you hear that it was good for joints? Just wondering. My horse can't have oils, but I she is on a supplement for her hair and joints. Just thought it was interesting that you said it was good for joints as well. My friend tried giving her gelding veg. oil, but he wouldn't eat his grain, he didn't like the taste of the oil or something. I do hear that it works well for coats though.
